Ahhhh...finally got a little bit of time to update the journal! I did finish everything on my list for Saturday. *pats self on back* Today, I hope to clean my home & have a little time left over for custom ponies.
My friend & I went to "Little India" in Artesia, California...it was a great little mini-trip. We ate lunch at the Jay Bharat Vegetarian Gourmet Restaurant. We didn't know the place was vegetarian when we went in there. The food was really yummy, even though we weren't sure what we ordered! The "Italian samosas" were delicious, however, the regular samosas were pretty darn spicy!
We also both bought outfits for the upcoming Indian wedding. ^_^ Pics below.
My outfit is a three-piece "salwar kameez" outfit. "Salwar" means "slacks" and "kameez", which sounds like chemise, means top. Basically a long shirt with a pair of pants! This particular outfit is made of silk. The pants and the front of the kameez has a mesh-like lining in a coordinating color. The top is a lavender color (sort of like Blossom, the original pony!) The salwar are a creamy ivory color with little embroidered diamond shapes. I need to modify the salwar...they're a bit too long. It might be difficult, given the bottom seam has a decorative mesh on it.
Here is a close-up of the neckline with its beautiful beading! Lots of sequins, shiny seed beads, and purple mini springs form flowers which decorate the neckline and sleeves.
I absolutely ADORE the "dupatta" (scarf)! It's made of a super-soft gauze like material. It also has beading in the shape of flowers, like the kameez, and it is gradient dyed! Mmmmmmmm! It also has golden mesh along the ends, like the salwar.
We noticed that the marked prices in all of the stores were seriously higher than the regular prices, so bargaining is a good idea. This outfit was marked $99, but I got it for $75.
