hmmmm... [Jun. 5th, 2005|12:41 pm]
[mood |thoughtfulthoughtful]
[music |Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop]

Today's plan: spend all day working on customs. ^_^
I finished re-rooting the Air Force Pony about a day ago...her hair has 3 different colors of tinsel...it's really pretty in real life.

Also finished coding the Midsummer contest voting pages. Whew!
Voting (Round 1) starts on June 8th.

Goals for today:
Finish Wrangler
Finish butterfly wings
Start on Air Force Pony's symbols

I'm thinking about buying a LJ permanent account. Mainly so I can embed the journal on my website using PHP. i-frames are a free option, but not as user friendly. Also, I can get more user pics & options to customize my journal. ^_^
It seems like a huge sum up front, but over time, LJ loses money on permanent accounts. The cost adds up to about 4 years of a "paid account". After that, they're basically hosting the journal for free. Can I still see myself using the journal 4 years from now? Probably. If I get tired of ponies (*gasp!*), I can still use it for other hobbies. I can't see myself giving up all the do-it-yourself stuff. I've been painting/drawing for as long as I can remember.

Other ponderings: Decal tutorial is currently on hold until the Midsummer Competition is finished & all current commissions are done. When will I start taking commissions again? It might be a few weeks...real life is hectic right now & I have a bunch of my own projects that I really wanted to work on.

The airforce pony is looking really good, all your ponys seem
to turn out so nicely. Get sick of ponies i didnt know that
was possible! I cant wait to see how the contest ends up,
good luck to everyone who entered. Bye.

Re: pony

Thank you for the comment! I love AFP's 3-colored hair. ^_^
Be sure to visit my site between June 8th-15th for a chance to vote for the People's Choice pony.

LOL, I didn't think it possible to get sick of ponies either...but when Hasbro was putting out all of the pink ones that looked the same, I was ready to give up. ^_^

I'd say take the opportunity. If I had the cash, I would get a permanent account in a second. There's no telling if they'll ever sell them again, and as you noted, over time, it really is a big savings. I know I've had my journal for almost three years, so the prospect of another four seems more than likely for me, at least.

Thanks for the input. I've had my journal for a long time, but I didn't start using it until recently. The main benefit that appealed to me was the extra embedding options. But I'm sure I can get used to the extra icons as well. ^_^

I'm guessing they will have another permanent account sale in a year or so, but the price will increase. Also, they may limit the number of accounts being sold, like the "one day sale" planned for this year. Permanent accounts seem like a bad business idea, since that cuts off future sources of income. Argh, I'm thinking too much about this!

I love the Air Force ponys results. She's beautiful.
Don't take to much on your plate, you deserve a rest with all you've done in the past several months. If it were me, I'd be in therapy by now o.0
Not that I am not in therapy anyway... But I'm not sure why... ponies*coughcough*pon*cough*ies ;)

Thanks for the comment & for your concern. I was worried about "customizing burnout" for a while now. Earlier in the year, I tried making at least 1 custom a week...that was tough. Right now, my real-life schedule is rather hectic, which leaves very little time for ponies.

Customizing is a hobby for me...I find it enjoyable, so that's why I do it. ^_^ However, I don't like people waiting around forever for their commmissioned works (even though they don't mind), so I don't take commissions that I can't finish within 1 month. I get at least 1 custom request a day, so imagine the number of people I have to say "no" to!

Her hair is gorgeous! I too have been contemplating a permanent account, but I think I am going to go for it...100 icons? I could be in user-pic heaven!
