It's just waaaay too hot today. Spent most of the day shopping for household things & groceries...no ponies though. Awwwww. Target had the new scooter ponies & the new seaside ponies with the friends. I'm not fond of them...they're basically the same old ponies in different poses, with slightly different colors, and new accessories. The "friends" aren't very cute, in my opinion. I wish Hasbro would make new designs. *sigh*
Also saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this weekend. It's pretty funny & very quirky...a lot more enjoyable than I expected. ^_^
On a crafty note, I started a new knitting project. This will be Rikku's scarf from Final Fantasy X-2. It is made of 100% cotton yarn (Peaches & Creme by Elmore and Pisgah Inc) and it's very soft. The color is "10 yellow", whatever that means. It's going very slowly since this is a two layered scarf. I'm knitting it in the round using double pointed needles - size 7 if I remember correctly. I will be gradient dyeing it when it's finished (hence the selection of natural fibers - easier to dye).
LOL, I won't be making the whole outfit...there's no way I would wear something like that, even in this toasty weather! ^_^
My next knitting project will be a Harry Potter scarf...my friends want to attend a Harry Potter party when the next movie comes out & we have to be dressed appropriately. ^_~
Oooh. Are you all going to be Gryffindor colors? Or may I hope to see images of your talented interpretations of the House of Slytherin?
God, I am SUCH a fangirl. I weep in despair.
I haven't decided on which one to make yet. Those scarves are huge...I would love to make them all, but it would take a very long time to knit just one! ^_^
Oh how I long to know how to knit, lol. Its one of those things I've always wanted to do, but never really got around to doing. Lets face it though, I would probably only knit myself scarves anyway, and living in Florida, unfortunitely I don't have a need for that many scarves, lol.
I too found Charlie to be WAY more amusing than I thought it would be. Lets hear it for Harry Potter scarves, lol! And what house will you be representing? *dork*
...I might have to steal that icon...
...I might have to tell you to go right ahead ^_^ just check the notes for crediting, since I didn't make it
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, always. *entirely too happy grin*
Scarves are really easy to knit. The one I'm making right now uses only one stitch. ^_^ Although I don't recommend double-pointed needles on the first try. I live in California and it's been about 90 degrees all last week. It does get cold in the winter...that's my excuse for making scarves. ^_^
I really enjoyed Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, but some of my co-workers said they didn't like it.
I haven't decided on the actual colors of my scarf...but I'm leaning toward Ravenclaw, being the geeky girl I am. ^_~ Also, most of my clothing is blue or gray...right now, I'm wearing dark brown and blue. Coincidence?
oooh, I can't wait to see Rikku, one of my fav FF characters ^^
I like Rikku too...she's so spunky! ^_^
*ears perk* They DID change the poses for the sea side ponies? I hadn't thought they were going to do even that! Can I ask which pose Sew-n-sew is in? *hopeful* (And yes, I think it's lame as well, but I need this so-far-non-existant bait for a project...*COUGH*)
Ah, HP scarves. After knitting my hands off/screaming mine to death (and recently starting on Sea Snake's. Already screwed up! Go me! >_O), quite curious to know which sort of a pattern you're going to use. *pause* And House choices as well, like everyone else, but that's far more along the lines of idle curiosity than "Ooooooooooooooooo! How is the person who can knit FAR BETTER than I going to do it?"
Hmmmmm...now that I'm taking a closer look at them, I don't think they changed the poses. Sorry to get your hopes up! The colors look a little bit different, but I don't have the actual ponies to compare directly with the first releases. I didn't buy them.
About the HP scarves...I'll be using a pattern found here: http://knit.atypically.net/scarves/hogwarts/pattern.shtml
It looks like she did quite a bit of research into them. I like the simple, original ones. I'm probably going to make the movie-version of a Ravenclaw scarf (medium blue/silvery gray). If it goes well, I will make a Gryffindor one next. ^_^
Most likely, I'll pick a wool yarn. That will look the most authentic. ^_^ Wool-eaze, by Lion Brand Yarns, looks really nice & it's easy to take care of, but it's a little scratchy. The person at the website I mentioned above used Brown Sheep Yarns. Do you have pics of your scarves?
Rats. Ah well.
AH! I hadn't realized she had a pattern! She does lovely scarves. Rats, I wish I'd realized that before I made mine...not that I would have switched styles (I prefer the simpler ones too, but wouldn't look at all good in mine. *sigh*), but 70 stitches vs 90 is quite a difference. More sensible too. *makes face and folds scarf in half* *eyes colour samples* Hmmm...I wonder if I could find some of that brown and substatute it for the stuff I got for Sea Snake's...looks much better.
I don't have pictures of mine yet...will try to get some by this weekend. Need to dig out the digi-cam and card reader first...wherever they are. *eyes remaining boxes*
*chuckles* Wanna see you make a whole set. ^_~ But that's because I'm a sadist! XD ...and misery loves company. *eyes yarns selections for...well...whole set. >_O)
